Aprosoja Mato Grosso program ensures regulatory compliance in grain classifications

In the first half of 2025, up to June, the Legal Classifier program of the Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja MT) received 928 requests, 74% of which were for arbitration. Since its creation in 2017, the Legal Classifier has been a fundamental ally of rural producers and stands out as an essential tool to ensure regulatory compliance in soybean and corn classifications, promoting greater transparency and security in negotiations.

During the marketing process, one of the major challenges faced by farmers is the discrepancy in grain classification, which can cause significant losses to the producer. Through the program, Aprosoja MT offers impartial and technical evaluations that follow the official standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), which allows producers to challenge inadequate classifications and undue discounts.

According to the vice-president of Aprosoja Mato Grosso, Laura Battisti Nardes, a producer from the municipality of Primavera do Leste, the program represents two major benefits to producers. The first is the agility and competence in service, and the second is the saving of time and money by not having to bear the costs of hiring an official classifier and also, not having undue losses resulting from classifications carried out outside the MAPA standard.

“At the beginning of May, we were shipping soybeans when the classifier sent by the company classified the first load as damaged at 15%. We found it very strange, because we had already shipped many bags of soybeans of the same standard, from the same silo, and nothing out of the standard had been detected. So, I called Aprosoja MT through our regional supervisor, requesting that the arbitration come. And, to our surprise, the result went from 15 to 6.1%,” says the vice president for the south.

In the first week of June, Alessio Martelli, a member of the Campo Novo do Parecis branch, also faced challenges and needed the program’s support in loading corn. “I requested the Classifier because there were discrepancies. A few days ago, the corn shipment was not flowing. I told them to stop the loading and that I would call the Aprosoja MT team to monitor the loading, and then the shipment started flowing. The team, now that they know there is an official classifier, is more alert,” says the producer.

For the coordinating delegate of the Guaporé Valley unit, Marco Antônio Mattana Sebben, the program has generated good results. “The Legal Classifier is a program of Aprosoja MT that has a lot of respect and a lot of quality involved. The respect that the entity’s legal classifiers have, before other classification companies, is impressive”, he highlights.

The producer says he has also had to activate the program. “We recently had a problem here with loading, where my staff said it was standard and the staff from the certification agency, which was not even certified, claimed it was giving 9.6 to 9.8. So my staff put their foot down and said 'no, I'm not going to unload because it is within the standard', and that was it, since we knew the classifier, we ended up calling him, who came here the next morning, classified and gave 6.2% of damage. This is not the first time this discrepancy has happened and it probably won't be the last”, he adds.

Through the Legal Classifier, Aprosoja Mato Grosso reaffirms its commitment to valuing agricultural production and defending the rights of its members. The initiative is a way to ensure the accuracy of grain quality and arbitration analyses. In a scenario of constant challenges, the producers' reports demonstrate the importance of the technical support offered by the entity, strengthening trust and transparency throughout the process.

Legal Classifier

Implemented in 2017, the Legal Classifier offers an impartial assessment in accordance with the official standards required by Normative Instruction 11/2007 (IN11/2007) and with a report recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).

Producers interested in contacting the classifier in their region should contact the Producer Channel by phone or WhatsApp (65) 3027-8100, to open a Service Order (OS). The arbitration or analysis of the sampling will be carried out by the closest available classifier, at no cost to the producer.
