Imac program reaches 1.3 thousand hectares recovered in rural properties in MT

The Reinsertion and Monitoring Program (Prem) of the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (Imac) has recovered 1,300 hectares in three years on rural properties in Mato Grosso whose main activity is livestock farming. The program helps producers to recover embargoed areas that prohibit the sale of meat to the meatpacking industry.

First, a diagnosis of the farm is carried out, and then a commitment agreement is signed with Imac, in which the producer agrees to isolate and not use areas with illegal deforestation. Finally, self-inspections are carried out for five years to verify the actions taken for recovery, as well as the results presented.

Currently, 472.6 hectares of degraded areas are being monitored on properties that total 255.8 thousand hectares. In the initial phase, an eligibility analysis is carried out, when it is verified whether the producer meets the requirements to be included in the program.

“Prem is a fundamental tool not only for producers, but also for the entire state. The program allows the commercial regularization of producers who are blocked by meatpacking industries, promoting inclusion and transparency in the livestock production chain,” explains Imac technical consultant Tássio Bizelli.

The inclusion of more rural producers in the Prem will be one of the topics that Imac will be participating in for the Show Safra, between March 24 and 28, in Lucas do Rio Verde (354 km north of Cuiabá). Livestock farmers will be able to ask questions about the program, as well as start the protocols for inclusion in the Prem.

“Prem supports producers in their quest for environmental regularization with the State Secretariat for the Environment. The impact is very positive and allows livestock farmers to resume selling directly to meatpacking plants, obtaining better sales values, in addition to the purchase guarantee,” emphasizes Tássio.

In addition to the benefits of Prem, participation in Show Safra will also be publicized at the World Meat Congress, the largest event in the agricultural sector in the world, which, for the first time, will be held in Brazil, headquartered in Cuiabá.

The congress will take place between October 27th and 30th, and Mato Grosso was chosen for its prominence not only in domestic production, but in exports, which place the state as one of the 10 largest exporters in the world.
