On Monday (24), ApexBrasil opened a unit in Cuiabá (MT), installed at Famato headquarters, to expand support for exports and attract investments in the state that leads the country's agricultural production. The initiative connects Mato Grosso companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses, to international markets through consultancies, commercial intelligence and articulation with the network of Brazilian agricultural attachés.
The agency's presence in Mato Grosso comes at a time when the state accounts for about a third of Brazil's trade surplus. Between 2023 and 2025, coordinated actions between ApexBrasil, the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs totaled more than 170 international agendas in 42 countries, involving more than 3,000 companies and generating US$$ 18 billion in projected business.
During the inauguration, representatives of the federal government highlighted the need to bring local producers closer to foreign buyers and reinforced the role of agricultural attachés in opening markets. These professionals work in embassies and consulates mapping opportunities, assisting with document processing, and advising companies on sanitary and tariff barriers.
The Agency's president, Jorge Viana, emphasized that the installation in Cuiabá accompanies the expansion of ApexBrasil's international network, which has grown from nine to 15 global offices. According to him, the state has strategic conditions to expand its presence in foreign trade, given the strength of its soybean, corn, cotton, and meat supply chains.
Famato also believes that the arrival of the office should facilitate access for producers and entrepreneurs to export training. The agreements signed during the event include actions with Sebrae-MT, UNEM, Ibrafe and Abrapa, focused on ethanol, corn bran, pulses, sesame, beans and cotton. The package of initiatives totals more than R$42 million and will be implemented between 2026 and 2028.
For agricultural attachés, the new base in Mato Grosso is expected to bring the agricultural field even closer to agricultural diplomacy. They affirm that joint action helps build bridges with other countries, adjust perceptions about Brazil, and facilitate cooperation on commercial, sanitary, and environmental issues.
With the opening of the unit, companies from Mato Grosso will have direct access to commercial promotion and investment attraction services, in a move that seeks to strengthen the international competitiveness of local agribusiness.
