Brazil reaches agreement with Japan to export animal fat products

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock reported on Tuesday (02) that it had concluded tariff negotiations with the Japanese government for the export of products based on poultry, pork and beef fat.

These products are used in the production of animal feed and pet food. According to the ministry, the authorization "expands Brazil's presence in one of the world's most demanding markets." Brazil is already one of the largest suppliers of soybeans and corn to the Japanese market.

With 125 million inhabitants, Japan is the world's third-largest economy and the seventh-largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2024. Exports to Japan totaled US$1.5 billion last year. From January to July 2025, sales have already totaled US$1.8 billion. In total, 422 new markets have been opened for Brazilian agricultural products under the current administration.
