Egg exports to the United Arab Emirates fall

Brazilian egg exports grew by 295.8% in May compared to the same period last year, to 1,354 tons, according to data for the period released last Tuesday (10) by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). Year-to-date, the expansion, in volumes, is 165.6% and totals 18,357 tons. Despite the positive result, sales to one of the main egg markets, the United Arab Emirates, are falling.

According to ABPA data, the United States is the main importer of eggs from Brazil, with a total of 9,735 tons and an increase of 9,96% between January and May this year compared to the same period last year. It is followed by Chile, with imports of 2,354 tons and an increase of 10.8% in the same comparison, and by the United Arab Emirates, with 1,422 tons and a decrease of 13.8% compared to last year.

In terms of value, Brazilian egg exports totaled US$13.7 million in May, up 356.2% over May 2024. In the year, the expansion is 195.8%, to US$$ 42.1 million. “The egg sector has accumulated a strong increase in exports, amid a reconfiguration of the flow of shipments that now has the United States, Japan and Mexico among the main destinations for the products. Even with the suspensions resulting from the specific outbreak of Avian Influenza, sales continued at a high pace, demonstrating the markets' confidence in Brazilian biosecurity”, said, in a statement, the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
