Tilapia prices surged in October due to limited supply and increased exports.

Tilapia prices rose sharply in October. Researchers at Cepea indicate that the increase came from a significantly reduced supply due to a lack of fingerlings for restocking.

Furthermore, the milder temperatures this year also reinforced the lower availability of tilapia. In Northern Paraná, the average price was R$ 9.19/kg in October, a significant increase of 7.79% compared to the previous month.

In western Paraná, the price of tilapia rose significantly, from 11.88% in the same comparison to 8.31/kg in R$. On the international front, tilapia exports grew in October, returning to the volumes recorded in January 2025.

According to data from Secex, shipments totaled 1,602 tons in October, a significant increase of 130.4% compared to the previous month, but still 6.9% below that recorded in October 2024.
