Soybean planting slows down and the 2025/26 harvest raises an alert.

The planting pace for the 2025/26 soybean crop remains below that recorded last season. According to researchers at Cepea, this scenario reflects the uneven distribution of rainfall across much of the country over the past three months.

In the south of the country, excess moisture continues to limit access to crops. Meanwhile, in the Central-West and Matopiba regions, the uneven distribution of rainfall has resulted in moisture levels below what is needed to advance fieldwork.

Despite the recent increase in accumulated rainfall in the Midwest and Matopiba regions, and the reduction in rainfall volumes in the South, especially in Paraná, Cepea collaborators report that the scenario is one of uncertainty regarding the productive potential of the 2025/26 crop.

According to Conab, 78% of the national area had been sown by November 22, down from 83.3% recorded in the same period last year.
