Field technicians travel across the country's fields to update figures for the 2024/2025 Grain Harvest

With different agricultural scenarios spread across Brazil, a new stage of grain harvest surveys is being carried out throughout the country. The focus is on identifying the stage of development of crops and the conditions that may influence productivity and harvest. Technicians from the National Supply Company (Conab) collect data in person and remotely, with the support of geotechnology to estimate planted area and crop yield.

The in-person survey covers the states of Alagoas, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Paraná, Rondônia and Santa Catarina. In these locations, the teams will evaluate the main crops of the current season: soybeans, second-season corn, second-season beans, rice, cotton and sorghum. The information collected will compose an updated portrait of Brazilian agricultural production.

The climate and regional diversity imposes a heterogeneous panorama on the work of specialists. In the states of the Center-South, the North Region and Matopiba — an agricultural frontier formed by areas of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia — the first crop has already been almost completely harvested, while the second is in the harvest phase or still in full development. In the Northeast, however, the reality is different: many of the crops are still in the initial growth phase.

The results of this data collection across the country will be released in the 8th 2024/2025 Grain Harvest Survey, on May 15. The report is part of Conab's monthly bulletins, which are a reference for public policies, market strategies and decisions in the agricultural sector.
