Proper soybean processing is crucial for productivity in poultry farming

An essential raw material in poultry nutrition, soybeans require specific care during processing to ensure food safety and efficiency.

Although rich in protein and oil, its raw form contains antinutritional compounds that compromise digestibility, nutrient absorption, and livestock performance. "Properly processed soybeans contribute to more efficient, profitable, and sustainable nutrition," says Maitê Vidal Mendonça, poultry nutritionist at Agroceres Multimix.

She continues: "Considering that soybean meal can represent up to 35% of poultry diets, small variations in its quality directly impact production and economic results." Among the main factors requiring attention are trypsin inhibitors, lectins, and phytic acid, in addition to the risks of overheating, which can negatively affect protein quality.

Proper evaluation of processed soybeans involves technical analyses, such as urea activity, protein solubility, protein dispersibility index, and reactive lysine/total lysine ratio.
