Record beef exports in the first quarter support cattle prices in Brazil.

The intense pace of fresh beef exports observed throughout 2025 continued into early 2026, reaching a record level for the first quarter. Data from Secex Data indicates that, between January and March of this year, Brazil exported 701,662 tons of fresh beef.

The volume represents an increase of 19.7% compared to the same period in 2025 and an advance of 36.6% over 2024, consolidating the highest result ever recorded for a first quarter in the historical series.

In addition to the increase in shipped volume, researchers from Cepea They highlight the increased value of Brazilian beef in the international market. In March, the average price paid per ton exported was US$5,814.80, an increase of 3.11 compared to February and 18.71 compared to March 2025.

This more favorable external environment has a direct impact on price formation in the domestic market. According to Cepea, international demand helped to sustain cattle prices throughout March.

At the beginning of April, this dynamic continues. Prices for finished cattle, calves, and beef remain on an upward trajectory, supported by a combination of strong external demand and a restricted supply of animals ready for slaughter.
