Goiás exports US$2.27 billion in meat through September

Meat exports from Goiás totaled US$2.27 billion between January and September 2026, an increase of 16.91% compared to the same period in 2025, according to data released by the Government of Goiás, based on Comex Stat. With this increase, animal proteins expanded their share of the state's agribusiness exports from 21.8% to 26%, while the soybean complex maintained its leadership in Goiás' exports.

For the third consecutive year, animal protein exports from Goiás registered growth in the accumulated period from January to September. By 2025, sales in the sector had already increased by 18.71% compared to 2024.

Foreign trade data is available on the Foreign Trade Panel of the Aroeira Platform, provided by the Government of Goiás through the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa). The result reinforces the participation of meat in the state's agribusiness export agenda. Among the factors accompanying this performance is the expansion of the number of markets buying animal proteins produced in Goiás.

Despite the growth in the meat industry, the complex soy (Comprising soybeans, soybean meal, and soybean oil) remained the state's main export segment. According to data released by the Government of Goiás, external sales of the complex totaled US$5.41 billion between January and September 2026, a value 0.21% higher than that recorded in the same period of 2025. The segment accounted for 61.9% of Goiás' exports. The appreciation of the products also contributed to the result. The average value per ton increased by 7.4%, reaching US$426.89 during the period.

The head of Seapa, Ademar Leal, highlighted the diversity of the state's agricultural production and the importance of the different supply chains for the economy of Goiás. "The numbers show that we have the capacity to increasingly expand our presence in the markets. With this productive capacity, we are able to meet international demand without neglecting the needs of the domestic market," he stated.

Between January and September 2026, animal proteins from Goiás reached 131 countries, five more than in the same period of the previous year. The United States increased its purchases of beef and now shares the lead with China among the destinations for meat exported by Goiás. Sales to the US market totaled US$458.8 million, while those destined for China reached US$420.9 million. Purchases from the United States grew by 67.31% compared to the same period in 2025, when they totaled US$274.2 million. Mexico follows, with US$173.3 million in purchases of meat from Goiás. Of this total, 92.81% corresponds to beef.

In the foreign trade of the soybean complex, China continues to be the main destination for exports from Goiás. Sales to the country totaled approximately US$3.4 billion up to September 2026, equivalent to 83.81% of the total exported by the state to the Chinese market. Of this amount, approximately US$1.2 billion was shipped during the third quarter. In total, soybean complex products reached 46 countries, four more than at the end of the first half of the year.

Besides China, other markets stood out in purchases from this segment. Thailand imported US$240 million, followed by Poland with US$194.5 million; Pakistan with US$182.4 million; and Indonesia with US$164.8 million. The results show the importance of meat and soy products to Goiás' foreign trade. While animal proteins expanded their share and reached new destinations, soybeans maintained their leadership among the products exported by the state's agribusiness in the accumulated total for 2026.
