The Brazilian Aquaculture Association (Peixe BR) is following with concern the proposal presented by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to apply an additional tariff of 25% on Brazilian products exported to the US market.

The measure was announced following the conclusion of a trade investigation initiated in July 2025 and will still undergo public consultation before a final decision by the United States government.
Although details about the sectors and products actually impacted are still under discussion, the possibility of new trade barriers creates uncertainty for export production chains and could compromise the competitiveness of Brazilian products in one of the world's main consumer markets.
For Peixe BR, any measure that results in increased costs or restrictions on international trade should be treated with caution, especially at a time when Brazil is expanding its global presence in agribusiness and food production.
Given this scenario, Peixe BR will continue to monitor developments regarding the proposal and assess its potential impacts on Brazilian fish farming and the national agribusiness sector.
