The opening of the corn harvest becomes a stage for strategic debates in Rio Grande do Sul.

The 13th Opening of the Corn Harvest in Rio Grande do Sul will be held between Thursday (22) and Friday (23), in São Borja, bringing together rural producers, authorities, technicians, researchers and representatives of entities linked to agribusiness. More than a symbolic act, the meeting is consolidated as a space for technical debate, exchange of experiences and dissemination of technologies aimed at the corn production chain.

The event aims to connect producers and companies in the sector, focusing on presenting innovations in management, production technologies, and up-to-date market analyses. The program begins at 5:30 PM at the Serafim Dornelles Vargas Exhibition Park, with roundtables dedicated to productive efficiency, crop management, the use of bio-inputs, and pest control strategies.

At 6:45 PM, the debate shifts to irrigation, with discussions on the suitability of management practices for irrigated corn, different irrigation methods, and aspects of environmental legislation related to water storage. The evening's program will conclude with lectures on agribusiness prospects and an analysis of the corn market.

On Friday, starting at 7:30 am, activities will continue at Agropecuária Santos Reis, with reception, registration, and a visit to the demonstration area. The space will feature trials of 24 corn hybrids from eight companies, as well as demonstrations of bio-inputs, fertilization management, and irrigation systems, in work conducted by Emater/RS-Ascar.

The highlight of the program takes place at 11:00 AM, with the official opening ceremony of the corn harvest in Rio Grande do Sul, which will be attended by the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation, Edivilson Brum, as well as state, regional and municipal authorities.

The 13th edition of the event is organized by the Municipality of São Borja, with the support of entities, technical institutions, and companies in the agricultural sector. The initiative seeks to strengthen regional integration, stimulate the circulation of knowledge, and reinforce the strategic role of corn cultivation in the economic development of Rio Grande do Sul.
