Soybeans remain the most valuable product in Brazilian agribusiness. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), released on November 21, the Gross Production Value (VBP) of the oilseed is expected to reach R$ 325.9 billion in 2025. This result represents consistent growth compared to the R$ 296.9 billion achieved in 2024, reinforcing the crop's central role in the country's agricultural wealth.
The annual expansion of approximately 10% is driven by productivity gains in key producing regions, a partial recovery in international prices, and increased supply in states that have expanded their planting area. As a result, soybeans are expected to represent 23.08% of Brazil's total VBP (Value of Agricultural Production) in 2025, maintaining its absolute leadership position among the 26 products evaluated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).
The leading state remains Mato Grosso, which is expected to reach R$ 94.6 billion in 2025, a significant increase compared to the R$ 80.2 billion of the previous year. The state concentrates the majority of national production, supported by technology, competitive logistics, and high production scale. Next is Paraná, which grows from R$ 38.36 billion to R$ 42.04 billion, consolidating its relevance in the southern production belt.

Other states also show robust performance. Rio Grande do Sul, after a strong climatic impact in 2023, maintains a recovery trajectory and reaches R$ 27.76 billion in 2025, above the R$ 27.58 billion of 2024. Goiás, with a projected VBP of R$ 38.66 billion, and Mato Grosso do Sul, with R$ 26.07 billion, reinforce the strength of soybeans in the Central-West region.
The soybean production map demonstrates the regional scope of the crop: states such as Bahia, Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Maranhão, and Piauí are also increasing their share of the Gross Value of Production (VBP), benefiting from the expansion of Matopiba and the consolidation of new agricultural frontiers.
With solid annual growth and a decisive share in the national Gross Value of Production (GVP), soybeans reaffirm their strategic role in the Brazilian agricultural economy, supporting exports, supplying multiple chains, and remaining the main financial engine of the country's agricultural sector.
The 2025 edition stands not only as a snapshot of the highest Gross Production Value (VBP) in history, but also as an essential guide to understanding the paths and challenges facing Brazilian agribusiness in the short and medium term. Check out the digital version by clicking [here]. here.
