Chicken meat prices begin positive reaction with resumption of exports

The downward movement in the prices of chicken meat and live animals, which had been observed since the last week of May – as a result of export restrictions imposed by Brazil's trading partners due to bird flu – was interrupted this week, according to surveys by Cepea.

Researchers explain that, since June 18, when Brazil was once again certified as free of the disease after having complied with all international protocols, the national sector has been more optimistic, and Cepea has already seen slight reactions in the prices of meat and live chicken in some markets and stability in others.

According to the Research Center, despite the traditional weakening of sales typical at the end of the month, reflecting the population's lower purchasing power, the increase in prices was sustained by the greater competitiveness of chicken meat compared to its competitors (pork and beef) and by the resumption of exports to 16 countries that had temporarily suspended purchases of Brazilian protein.
