Wheat and soybeans under debate: event brings together researchers to discuss challenges and innovations in the South

The 17th Meeting of the Brazilian Wheat and Triticale Research Commission and the 44th Southern Region Soybean Research Meeting are scheduled to take place from August 12 to 14 at the UPF Events Center in Passo Fundo (RS). The event is expected to unify discussions on wheat and soybean production and research.

The opening of the program will feature the Wheat and Soybean Forum on Tuesday (12). Three panels are planned: Sustainable Production Systems; Challenge 2030: The path for Brazil to produce 20 million tons of wheat; and Climate resilience in the wheat-soybean system – adapting to the future.

On Wednesday morning (13), researchers will meet to attend lectures on “Opportunities and challenges in the use of bioinputs in the wheat-soybean system” and “Benefits, limitations and research demands on the use of drones in phytosanitary control”. In the afternoon, the group will be divided into subcommittees for research meetings with discussions ending at the end of Thursday (14).

Deadline for submission of papers

June 30th is the deadline for submitting scientific papers for the research meeting. The Organizing Committee expects to receive more than a hundred abstract submissions that, if accepted by the technical-scientific committee, will be published in the event proceedings. The selected papers will be presented orally during the program.
