Pressure on corn persists in July despite a temporary recovery in Campinas

The ESALQ/BM&FBovespa corn indicator, referring to the Campinas region (SP), has been reacting in recent days, but still accumulates a decline in the partial of July, according to Cepea surveys.

According to the Research Center, while sellers are limiting supply in regions where the harvest is later, such as in São Paulo, supporting prices, in other locations, especially in the Central-West, the accelerated pace of field activities is increasing availability, putting pressure on prices.

Furthermore, agents consulted by Cepea report that the increase in freight rates reinforces support for prices.

Researchers point out that the positive expectations regarding Brazilian and global production continue to restrict business, as some consumers indicate that they are stocking up and waiting until next month – with the harvest progressing – to purchase the cereal at lower prices than current ones.
