The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, received this Tuesday (30) the president of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), Jorge Viana, to discuss the opening of the Chilean market to meatpacking plants in the states of Acre and Rondônia. The agenda reinforces the Federal Government's focus on boosting Brazilian foreign trade, with special attention to the Amazon Region.
Exports via the Bioceanic Route
During the meeting, strategic actions to optimize the flow of pork and beef exports from Acre were detailed. The measures aim to ensure greater agility, efficiency, and safety for the region's industries and include:
- Strengthening the performance of the International Agricultural Surveillance System (Vigiagro).
- The synchronization of operations between Brazilian and Peruvian customs.
- Renewal of health certificates for exporting companies.
Minister Carlos Fávaro emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts for Brazil's international presence. "We are now strengthening exports via the bioceanic route via Acre, with Chile, Peru, and the Dominican Republic," he stated. Acre is strategically located, being the closest state to the Port of Chancay in Peru. This position is seen as crucial for strengthening Brazil's connection to the Pacific, facilitating access to markets such as Chile and Peru, as well as opening doors to Asian countries.

Aiming to further expand opportunities, Fávaro confirmed that he will seek accreditation for Acre's meatpacking plants during his next official mission to Asia. In the coming days, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Minister Fávaro, and ApexBrasil President Jorge Viana will join the mission to Indonesia (October 23 and 24) and Malaysia (October 25 and 26).
The delegation will participate in Economic Forums and the ASEAN summit. The goal is to map out new opportunities, discuss partnerships and investments, and generate potential for the Brazilian animal protein sector in the region. "With President Lula's visit to Malaysia and Indonesia, we will seek accreditation for Acre's meatpacking plants, further expanding Brazil's trade relations with the world," Fávaro noted.
ApexBrasil president Jorge Viana reinforced the commitment to Amazonian producers and mentioned Fávaro's leadership in opening new markets. "The minister has already opened more than 440 markets worldwide and continues to lead this mission," he concluded. The joint effort aims to strengthen Brazilian exports along other crucial routes, in addition to Chile.
