Soybean planting reaches 14% in Brazil with accelerated PR; MT also advances.

The estimated area for the 2025/26 soybean crop was 14% sown as of Thursday (09), according to a survey by AgRural. The index represents an advance of 5 points over the 9% of a week before and surpasses the 8% of a year ago, guaranteeing the current crop the position of third fastest planting in the historical series, behind only 2018/19 and 2023/24.

Despite the still irregular rainfall, Mato Grosso made better-than-expected progress during the week. Even so, Paraná continued to lead the pace in Brazil, having benefited from favorable weather since the start of the harvest and having the fastest planting in its historical record so far. 

Summer corn

The planting of summer corn 2025/26, in turn, reached 45% of the estimated area for the Center-South of Brazil on Thursday (09), compared to 40% a week earlier and 41% in the same period last year (2024/25 crop), according to a survey by AgRural. 

Rain dictates the pace of planting. In the South, excess moisture hinders the completion of planting in some areas. Meanwhile, in the Southeast and Midwest of the country, which have a later planting calendar, the still very dry soil slows down the start of planting.
