The 13th Official Opening of the Corn Harvest in Rio Grande do Sul has a confirmed location and date. The event will take place on January 22nd and 23rd, 2026, in the municipality of São Borja, in the Western Border region, as defined in a meeting of the Sectoral Chamber of the Corn Production Chain held on Tuesday morning (02). The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), Edivilson Brum.
The schedule is still being finalized, but the first day will feature a technical agenda at the Rural Union of São Borja, starting at 5:30 PM, including roundtables, panels, and lectures on topics such as corn technology, irrigation, marketing, and market trends.
The following day, January 23rd, participants will visit experimental stations and attend the official opening of the harvest, scheduled to take place at 11:00 AM on the property of producer Andrei Sallet.
The event is promoted by Seapi, in partnership with the municipality of São Borja and the Corn Harvest Opening Working Group, which brings together representative entities from the entire production chain. Among them are Apromilho, Farsul, Emater/RS-Ascar, Ocergs, Famurs, Fetag, SIPS, the Rural Union of São Borja, and Irga.
