Masters in Agriculture trains 300 teachers from Sinop (MT) on agribusiness practices and challenges, and the relationship between the sector and education.

Three hundred education professionals from the municipal school system of Sinop (MT) will receive enhanced training to address content related to the rural sector in the classroom, based on scientific evidence and up-to-date sources. On May 14th and 15th, the association De Olho no Material Escolar, in partnership with the Rural Union, the city's Department of Education, and supporting companies, will promote the first edition in the state of the Mestres no Agro program. 

The initiative reinforces the strategic role of education in building a more innovative, competitive, and sustainable agribusiness in Brazil. The meeting – equivalent to an extension course, lasting eight hours and offering a certificate – will take place at the headquarters of the Rural Union of Sinop, and the program includes lectures and debates on topics such as technology, sustainability, production chains, international trade, challenges of Brazilian and regional agribusiness, and its impacts on education.

Among the confirmed speakers are Boris A. Wiazowski, Head of Sustainability at Coopercitrus; Cornélio Zolin, researcher in the area of climate risk management in agriculture and coordinator of the ILPF Regenera project, the largest experimental platform in integrated sustainable production systems in the world; and Samanta Pineda, specialist in Socio-environmental Law and a central figure in the drafting of the New Forest Code (Law 12.651/2012). 

For Letícia Jacintho, president of De Olho No Material Escolar, the goal is to bring scientific knowledge about the rural sector closer to schools, strengthening teaching practice. “In a scenario marked by the rapid incorporation of technologies, the demands of global markets, and the growing demand for ESG practices, the program seeks to support teachers in understanding the contemporary challenges of agribusiness,” she explains. 

With a focus on ongoing training, the Masters in Agriculture program was launched in 2024 and has already trained over 700 education professionals from 170 municipalities across three states. In Sinop, it has the support of Aprosoja, Senar, and Famato.
