Brazilian pork exports, considering both fresh and processed products, reached their highest volume ever recorded for the month of May since the beginning of the historical series by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) in 1997.
According to data from Secex, Brazil shipped 127,900 tons of pork in May. The volume was 7.5% lower than that recorded in April, but exceeded by 8.8% the result observed in the same month of 2025.
The performance reinforces the positive momentum for the sector's exports throughout 2026. Even with monthly fluctuations in shipped volumes, the results remain above those recorded last year, indicating continued international demand for Brazilian protein.
According to an analysis by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), the sector has managed to increase foreign sales even during the first half of the year, a period that traditionally sees less activity in the international market.
The assessment is that the shipments reflect the efforts of the production chain to diversify markets and expand the presence of Brazilian pork abroad, a strategy that has been sustaining the positive results throughout the year.
The record for the month of May reinforces the importance of exports for the sector, especially in a scenario of increased national production and a search for greater balance between domestic supply and external demand.
