Pressure on prices of corn The need for marketing planning is increasing, especially given the uncertainties surrounding international supply and demand. According to TF Agroeconômica's weekly analysis, the recommendation for producers is to avoid holding back the entire harvest and to distribute sales over time, reducing exposure to market fluctuations.
The guidance comes after four consecutive sessions of declines in Chicago, influenced by the progress of the North American harvest and sales by investment funds. In this scenario, farmers should calculate production costs, including inputs, leases, financing, freight, and storage, taking advantage of sales opportunities that guarantee satisfactory margins.
The consultancy also recommends comparing proposals from exporters, feed mills, and ethanol plants. The growth in Brazilian consumption for biofuel production may favor prices in certain regions, even in the face of international pressure. Storage, in turn, should be evaluated considering interest rates, operating expenses, and the risks of devaluation.
For cooperatives and grain traders, the recommendation is to avoid excessive stock concentration and prioritize operations with safety margins. Monitoring exchange rates, export premiums, and logistical conditions is also considered essential.
Exporters should look to the opportunities created by reduced European production and difficulties in distribution from Ukraine. For consumer industries, the recommendation is to stagger purchases and take advantage of any price drops without compromising security of supply.
Despite the downward trend in the short term, the expansion of corn ethanol and the growth of Brazilian exports may limit losses. The main advice is to maintain control of costs and margins, without relying exclusively on a recovery in international prices.
