The quality of beef from Mato Grosso won over Peruvian palates during a barbecue night held on Wednesday (24), at Expoalimentaria, the largest food industry fair in Latin America, in Lima.
Prime cuts of meat produced in the state were served, in an initiative that sought to highlight not only the flavor and tenderness of the protein, but also its sustainable production process, based on some of the most stringent environmental legislation in the world.
"We want to promote Mato Grosso beef, and there's nothing better than being able to taste the quality of our protein. It was a success; we had high demand for our products and received many compliments," says Henrique Prado Olvido de Miranda, administrative and financial director of the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (IMAC).
The choice of Lima to host the event was no coincidence, as the city is a major gastronomic hub in Latin America. "This event gives us the opportunity to make Mato Grosso beef known for its haute cuisine. We have a cut exclusive to the state, MT Steak, which epitomizes this quality and can satisfy even the most discerning palates," notes Imac's administrative and financial director.
In addition to the tasting, Imac participated on Thursday (25) in the event “Border Business”, which brought together representatives from border states in Brazil to promote the national food industry and attract potential business partners.
Among the actions being considered is the implementation of a flight from Cuiabá to Lima, to facilitate interaction between the two countries. "We're working hard here and are constantly talking to all Peruvian stakeholders to try to establish an international flight. It's a serious, collaborative effort, undertaken by all agencies in Mato Grosso, by all of civil society," emphasizes Cesar Miranda, Secretary of State for Economic Development.
"For Imac, it is very important to participate in Expoalimentaria, together with the State Secretariat for Economic Development and Invest MT, to present technical data on beef production, quality, and our system, which is one of the most sustainable in the world, demonstrating our state's capacity and potential for investment," says Henrique.
Production leader
Mato Grosso is currently Brazil's largest beef producer and a global leader in the sector. The state boasts the largest herd in the country, with over 32 million head of cattle, and accounts for approximately 17% of all Brazilian beef. Much of this production is destined for export, supplying demanding markets such as China, Chile, the European Union, and the Middle East.
