Saudali resumes exports of seasoned pork cuts to Uruguay

Saudali, one of the leading Brazilian companies in the pork sector, announces the resumption of exports of the Apreciatta line to Uruguay. The company, which began its operations in the neighboring country in 2017 with fresh products and, in 2019, became a pioneer in the export of seasoned pork cuts, had to suspend sales during the pandemic. Now, with a robust strategic plan, the brand returns to the Uruguayan market, bringing new products and reinforcing its presence.

As part of its expansion strategies, company representatives visited Montevideo to understand local consumer habits, meet customers and identify opportunities to strengthen the Apreciatta brand's communication in the Uruguayan market. The locations visited included large supermarket chains, small and medium-sized establishments, cooperatives and large processing industries in the sausage and ham segment.

Adaptations and opportunities

In order to meet the demands of the Uruguayan market, Saudali carried out intensive research and labeling adaptation work. According to Leandro Castro, Foreign Trade Supervisor, each market has specificities that need to be observed to ensure the correct insertion of the product.

“Exporting pork cuts requires not only superior product quality, but also a rigorous process of adapting to the regulations of the destination country. In Uruguay, for example, a detailed adjustment to the labeling was necessary to meet all local requirements. In addition, our team carried out extensive research to understand consumer behavior and identify new opportunities for brand expansion.”

Business strategy and consumer preferences

To boost sales and expand its market share in Uruguay, Saudali has structured a robust commercial plan for 2025. Adriano Pacheco, Commercial Director, highlights the importance of resuming exports and the local public’s reception of the products. “We will resume sales of Apreciatta products in the second half of 2024 and, in 2025, we will begin a strategic plan to promote the product in the country. Consumption habits in Uruguay favor fresh and chilled beef, while pork is consumed on a smaller scale and in different cuts than traditional cuts in Brazil. Our challenge is to introduce the quality and flavor of our seasoned and frozen cuts to the Uruguayan consumer, providing a new gastronomic experience,” he explains.

In order to strengthen the brand’s presence and bring its products closer to the public, Saudali held a series of tastings at its points of sale. The first of these took place at the client Macro Mercado, in the city of Las Piedras, and received overwhelming approval from consumers. Esmeralda Canazart, Marketing, Trade and Communication Supervisor, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives: “The tastings are an essential step towards the acceptance of the brand and products in Uruguay. We want consumers to have direct contact with Saudali and Apreciatta, trying our cuts and getting to know the quality of the products. The first experience in Las Piedras was very positive, and we have new actions planned for other clients in different regions of the country”, she concludes.
