Wheat prices decline as harvest progresses and exchange rates are favorable

A Cepea survey shows that wheat prices have fallen in recent days, reflecting the progress of the new crop harvest, especially in Paraná, combined with the devaluation of the dollar against the Real.

According to the Research Center, sellers are becoming more active in the spot market. Buyers, however, are holding back, indicating that they were stocked with imported grain in previous months.

In its September 2025 report, Conab reduced its Brazilian production estimate due to the smaller cultivated area. The harvest was projected at 7.536 million tons, 3.5% below the August estimate and 4.5% below the 2024 estimate—the lowest volume since 2020.

The area is expected to total 2.449 million hectares, a drop of 3.8% compared to the previous report and 19.9% compared to 2024.

According to Cepea researchers, the slight increase of 0.3% in productivity (3.077 t/ha) does not compensate for the reduction in the area.
