Beef from Mato Grosso commands higher prices in the European market.

The European Union was the destination that paid the highest price for beef exported by Mato Grosso in February 2026. Data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) indicates that the average value reached US$6,082.14 per ton, the highest among all markets served by the state.

The price was higher than that recorded in traditional destinations, such as China, which paid an average of US$4,206.20 per ton, and the Middle Eastern countries, with US$4,481.37 per ton.

In the period up to February, the European bloc imported 5,300 tons in carcass equivalent (TEC), generating revenue of US$32.4 million for Mato Grosso.

Even with a smaller share of the total export volume, the European Union stood out for the highest financial return per ton. The export attractiveness index placed the bloc in the lead, with 119.91 points, ahead of other regions such as Europe (88.65) and the Middle East (80.39).

“Mato Grosso has been seeking to expand the number of markets it serves, and when we manage to access more demanding destinations, such as the European Union, this demonstrates that our meat meets high standards of quality and sustainability,” says Bruno de Jesus Andrade, Projects Director of the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (Imac).
