Brazil could expand exports of bovine genetics to Mauritania.

The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, André de Paula, received the Minister of Agriculture of Mauritania, Sid'Ahmed Ould Mohamed, in Brasília on Monday (27), for a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, the Brazilian minister highlighted Brazil's interest in expanding this partnership. “Brazil puts all its experience at the disposal of the country to strengthen this cooperation. Institutions such as Embrapa are fully available to support partnerships and contribute to the development of solutions adapted to the needs of Mauritania,” said André de Paula.

Among the topics discussed was the expansion of cooperation in the area of bovine genetic material. Currently, Brazil already exports live animals and bovine semen to Mauritania, and technical teams are working on negotiations to open the market for Brazilian bovine embryos.

During the meeting, the prospect of signing a memorandum of understanding to structure scientific and institutional cooperation between the two countries was also discussed. The proposal aims to establish a framework for collaboration that allows the sharing of technological advances developed in Brazil for application in Mauritania, with the subsequent definition of specific work plans in areas of common interest.

The Mauritanian delegation is fulfilling its agenda in Brazil and is also scheduled to visit Expozebu, one of the largest livestock fairs in the world, which this year reaches its 91st edition. The event takes place in Uberaba (MG) and is internationally recognized for its advancements in bovine genetic improvement.

According to Minister Sid'Ahmed Ould Mohamed, the meeting is important for expanding cooperation between the countries. "Brazil has a solid reputation in cattle ranching and meat production. Therefore, we have a great interest in deepening this cooperation and expanding technical exchange between our countries," he stated.

According to him, the partnership also opens new opportunities for strengthening trade relations between Brazil and Mauritania in the agricultural sector. "We believe this meeting opens new doors to strengthen trade between our countries, especially in the sector of animal products," said the Mauritanian minister.
