Brazil opens market for corn DDG in a bloc led by Russia.

Brazil has once again expanded its international presence in agribusiness with the opening of new markets for agricultural and genetic products in the Eurasian Economic Union, Peru, and Togo. The main highlight was the authorization to export dried distillers grains (DDG) from corn to the Eurasian bloc, comprised of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.

Used in animal feed, DDG is a co-product generated by the corn ethanol industry and has been gaining strategic importance in light of the expansion of plants in the Brazilian Midwest. This opening expands the export potential of the corn supply chain at a time of growth in national ethanol production and an increase in the supply of by-products destined for animal nutrition.

In 2025, the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union imported more than US$1.4 billion worth of Brazilian agricultural products, with coffee, animal proteins, and tobacco being the most prominent.

In addition to DDG, Brazil has also obtained authorization to export potato pollen genetic material to Peru. This measure should strengthen exchanges related to agricultural research, plant breeding, and productive diversification between the two countries.

Recognized for its wide diversity of native potatoes, Peru imported over US$$ 729 million worth of products.

Another announced opportunity involves the export of live horses intended for breeding to Togo, in West Africa. This market creates new possibilities for the Brazilian animal genetics sector.

Last year, Togo imported over US$148 million worth of Brazilian agricultural products, mainly items from the sugar and ethanol complex, animal proteins, and leather.

With these new announcements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 609 new market openings since the beginning of 2023, expanding the diversification of destinations and products exported by the country.
