Government sets new release prices for corn and wheat until 2027.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Thursday (21) Ordinance No. 908, which establishes the new Public Stock Release Prices (PLE) for cassava flour, cassava starch, corn in grains and wheat in grains.

These values serve as a benchmark for the federal government's actions in the sale of public stockpiles. When market prices exceed the PLE (Price Limiting Level), the federal government may authorize the sale of products stored by the National Supply Company (Conab) to try to balance supply and curb excessive price increases.

The transactions will be carried out through public auctions on the Electronic Trading System (Siscoe), used by Conab.

For fine processed cassava flour, types 1 and 2, the release price was set at R$ 3.01 per kilogram in the Central-West, Southeast, and South regions. This value will be valid until December 31, 2026.

Cassava starch will have a reference price of R$ 3.53 per kilogram in the same regions and for the same period.

In the case of corn kernels, the prices were set regionally. In Paraná and the Southeast Region, the release price will be R$ 63.82 per 60-kilogram sack. For Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, the price was R$ 69.39 per sack.

In the Central-West and North regions, with the exception of Tocantins and Pará, the price will be R$ 48.43 per sack. In western Bahia and the states of Maranhão, Pará, Piauí, and Tocantins, the established price is R$ 58.04 per 60-kilogram sack. All these prices will be valid until December 31, 2026.

In the Northeast Region, except for western Bahia, Maranhão, and Piauí, corn will have a release price of R$ 78.37 per 60-kilogram sack, valid between June 1, 2026, and May 31, 2027.

For bread wheat, type 1, the release price was set at R$ 97.01 per 60-kilogram sack in the Southern Region, valid from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

The decree also stipulates that the prices established for corn will not be applied to operations under the Over-the-Counter Sales Program (ProVB), run by Conab.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, when market prices exceed the values set for public stocks, the release of products will depend on joint authorization from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming (MDA), in addition to the budgetary and financial availability of the federal government.
