Paraná consolidated its leadership in poultry exports by 2025 and is on track for a record soybean harvest, with production estimated at 22 million tons, the same level as in 2022/2023, which reached 22.3 million tons. These are highlights of... weekly bulletin from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), from the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), released this Thursday (12).
Approximately 347,000 hectares of soybeans were harvested in the state this week, representing about 201% of the planted area. The 2025/26 harvest is more advanced in the western region of the state, which accounts for about 181% of the 5.78 million hectares sown this cycle. "The current expectation is that with a production of 22 million tons, Paraná will account for approximately 131% of the national production, maintaining its position as the second largest national producer," states Edmar Gervasio, a technician at Deral.

In the national context, Brazilian soybean production for the 2025/26 cycle is estimated at 176 million tons and, if confirmed, will represent a new record for the country.
However, the soybean market faces some dilemmas. Prices practiced last week for a 60 kg bag in Paraná were around R$ 112, a value 6% lower than the average price recorded in February 2025. This drop goes against the international market trend, since current prices on the Chicago Board of Trade registered an increase close to 10%. "This divergence is essentially explained by the appreciation of the real against the dollar, which showed a drop of approximately 9% in the comparison of the period," explains Gervasio.
Chicken
The state was the leading producer and exporter of poultry in the country, accounting for 40.8% of the total volume shipped by Brazil and 38.9% of foreign exchange revenue. Last year, the volume exported by Paraná reached 2,103,688 tons, with a revenue of US$3.713 billion.
Brazilian chicken exports increased by 0.1% in volume, but showed a decrease of 1.9% in revenue. Data from Agrostat Brasil/Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply show a decline of 5.9% in the volume of exported "in natura" chicken meat. The volume of exports in 2024 reached 4,855,517 tons and in 2025 it was 4,567,786 tons. Consequently, there was a contraction of 5% in the revenue of the "in natura" product, in the accumulated twelve months of the previous year (2025: US$$ 8.602 billion and 2024: US$$ 9.055 billion).

In the twelve months of 2025, independent pig production in Paraná recorded the highest profitability in the last five years, with an average margin of R$ of 1.03 per kilo. "This result corresponds to the difference between the price received by the producer for the pig and the cost of production," explains Priscila Marcenovicz, from Deral.
According to her, this performance represents a boost to the productive sector, which has suffered losses since 2021 and only began to recover in 2023. Last year, the profit from the activity ranged from R$ 0.58/kg in January to R$ 1.45/kg in October, an average increase of 41.7%.
For the beginning of 2026, a reduction in profitability is expected compared to the last months of 2025, considering the lower demand at that time of year. According to data from Deral, in January 2026 the price received by the producer for pork was R$ 6.94/kg, a decrease of 1.8% (R$ 0.13) compared to December 2025. Production cost data for January have not yet been released by Embrapa.
