On Tuesday (23), at the ApexBrasil headquarters in Brasília, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Mato Grosso (Famato). The agreement provides for the installation of an ApexBrasil office in Cuiabá (MT), with a focus on strengthening the state's exports.
The document was signed by ApexBrasil president Jorge Viana and Famato president Vilmondes Sebastião Tomain, with Fávaro as a witness. According to the agency's data, Mato Grosso has maintained a trade surplus for two decades. In 2024, exports totaled US$1,500,000,000, with soybeans and derivatives, corn, and cotton accounting for 831,000,000 of this total. During the same period, 251 companies in the state engaged in foreign trade.

In his speech, Fávaro highlighted the expansion of markets for Brazilian agricultural products, a result of joint efforts between the government and the private sector. "It's no coincidence that we've opened 437 new markets. This is the relationship of seeking business, working together, attending international fairs, connecting entrepreneurs with buyers, and generating commercial opportunities. With this new office, Apex will do more business. The Brazilian people, especially the people of Mato Grosso, will benefit," he stated.
Jorge Viana emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility. "Mato Grosso is Brazil's largest exporter. By the end of the year, we'll be operating in Cuiabá, allowing the state to attract investment from around the world. Apex works to promote agribusiness products and other sectors of the Mato Grosso economy on the international market," he said.
For Famato's president, Vilmondes Tomain, the establishment of the office will bring competitive advantages. "With Apex in Cuiabá, we will have better conditions to discuss export strategies, attract investment, and generate more opportunities for Mato Grosso," he assessed.
Between January and August 2025, Mato Grosso's exports totaled US$19.75 billion, with highlights including soybeans (US$13.07 billion), meats (US$2.50 billion), and cotton (US$1.91 billion). The main destinations were China, Spain, Turkey, Thailand, and Vietnam.
With this initiative, ApexBrasil seeks to support local companies in opening new markets, strengthen the internationalization of production, attract strategic investments, and diversify the economy of one of the most representative states in Brazilian agribusiness.
