Pork production continues its growth trajectory, driven by higher slaughter rates, heavier carcasses, and favorable margins, according to data from Itaú BBA Agro. Although the volume available to the domestic market is higher, domestic demand has responded positively, ensuring firm prices even with increased supply.
In October, the price of live pigs registered a slight decrease, with a drop of 4% in the weighted average of the Southern Region and Minas Gerais. Despite this, the pig farming spread suffered only a marginal reduction and remains at a solid level.

Data from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) indicates that slaughtering increased by 6.1% (Total Pork Production) in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, following increases of 2.3% and 2.6% in the previous quarters. With heavier carcasses this year, pork production advanced even further, reaching 8.1%, a direct reflection of good margins, favored by controlled production costs.
On the demand side, the external market has been an important ally in absorbing the increase in supply. In October, exports totaled 125,700 tons of unprocessed milk, the second highest volume in history, behind only the previous month, and 81% above October 2024. In the accumulated total for the first ten months of the year, the growth reaches 13.5% of the total.
The average price in dollars fell by 1.2%, but the impact on the export spread was minimal. The indicator remains close to 43%, above the ten-year historical average (40%), driven by currency devaluation, which mitigated the fall in reais.
Even with exports on track to surpass the historical record of 2024, the domestic supply of pork is higher in 2025 due to increased production. Nevertheless, the domestic market has absorbed this additional volume well, maintaining firm prices and reinforcing the sector's positive momentum.
