Corn exports from Mato Grosso do Sul increased by 149,600 tons in October 2025 compared to the same month in 2024.

Corn exports from Mato Grosso do Sul registered an increase of 149,600 tons in October 2025, when compared to the same period of the previous year. This volume corresponds to an increase of 214%, according to the Export Bulletin released by Aprosoja/MS. 

In monetary terms, international trade in the cereal during the aforementioned period represented US$45.1 million, an increase of 2,36% compared to the value traded in October 2024.

According to economist Mateus Fernandes from Aprosoja/MS, the numbers are the result of a bumper harvest. “We had a harvest of 13.9 million tons of grains, a volume sufficient to meet domestic consumption and guarantee a significant surplus for export. In addition, we also have the factor of reduced domestic prices compared to last year, following the law of supply and demand, which naturally boosts the placement of grains on the international market,” explains Fernandes.

The main destination for corn from Mato Grosso do Sul was the Asian continent. Iran led the purchases, accounting for 381 4T of the total exported. Next were the Philippines, with 271 4T, and Bangladesh, with 101 4T. Vietnam and Jordan were also on the list of corn destinations, as well as Egypt, the only African country among the buyers. 

Despite the year-on-year increase, when comparing the months of September and October 2025, international sales operations showed a decrease of 41%, equivalent to a volume of 152,300 tons. This negative variation in comparison is common and is associated with logistical issues and available volume.
