Invited by the deputies to participate in the session of the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso (ALMT), this Tuesday (January 14), the president of the Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja MT), Lucas Costa Beber, was on the podium to, on behalf of Aprosoja Mato Grosso and the thousands of rural producers that the entity represents, thank the House for its commitment, active listening and sensitivity in addressing one of the most relevant debates of recent years: the Soybean Moratorium.
In his speech, Lucas Costa Beber thanked the 12 parliamentarians who co-authored the Incentives Law (Law No. 12.709/2024). He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of rural producers who dedicated themselves and had the courage to expose the reality of the countryside.
"To the collaborators of Aprosoja MT, who dedicated themselves intensely to this issue, and to the rural producers, both those who were on the Soy Moratorium list and had the courage to speak out, and those who were never on it but understood that strengthening the sector is the best defense against abuses, I extend my deepest gratitude," he emphasized.
In addition to the commitment of parliamentarians and rural producers, the entity also thanked Governor Mauro Mendes for having sanctioned the law and for having defended the agenda in the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The end of the Soy Moratorium leaves the state of Mato Grosso even stronger, bringing balance between the municipalities. Lucas reinforced that the state's farmers produce responsibly and that the end of the imposition does not alter their commitment to sustainability.
“Producing with socio-environmental responsibility is our commitment, not due to external imposition or that of large corporations, but because the Federal Constitution and the most rigorous environmental framework in the world dictate it. Economic abuses disguised as green will still be attempted, but today we are certain that we will have the maturity to debate them,” he concluded.
