The Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) released a report providing updates on the corn harvest in the state. The survey highlights that the cost of production for the 2026/27 corn harvest is expected to be 7.19% higher than that of the 2025/26 harvest, estimated at R$ 3,558.08 per hectare.

"This increase is influenced by the updating of technological packages between harvests," explain the technicians at Imea.

Given this cost, the effective operating cost (EOC) registered an increase of 9.46% in the crop comparison, with an average of R$ 5,260.69/ha, indicating a higher direct outlay by the producer. The total operating cost (TOC) showed an increase of 8.08%, closing at R$ 5,830.02/ha, a movement associated with the increase in operational and crop maintenance costs. Finally, the total cost (TC) showed an increase of 6.36% compared to the previous crop, ending at an average of R$ 7,153.73/ha.

"With the first cost projection indicating an increase, it is important that producers pay attention to exchange rates and take advantage of the best price opportunities to lock in their costs for the season, since the marketing of the 26/27 crop has not yet started," says Imea.
