Governor Ronaldo Caiado and Vice-Governor Daniel Vilela announced this Wednesday (February 18th) the end of the collection of contributions to the State Infrastructure Fund (Fundeinfra), aiming to guarantee better production and income conditions for farmers in Goiás. During a solemn session to install the 4th Ordinary Legislative Session of the 20th Legislature of the Legislative Assembly of Goiás (Alego), the head of the Goiás Executive branch stated that he will send the Bill to the House to revoke the collection this Thursday (February 19th).
Caiado explained that the decision, made jointly with Daniel Vilela, reflects the current economic situation in the country. "Due to the lack of rural insurance in Brazil, due to climatic issues affecting the entire country, especially the Midwest, as a result of the cost of agricultural production and the low price of products, we have cancelled the collection of Fundeinfra in the State of Goiás," he stated.
“We are aware of the burden that falls on rural producers today in terms of the cost of a federal government that practices veritable usury. Today, producers are unable to renegotiate their debts, and at the same time, the cost of production is killing productivity because the cost of goods is extremely low. Faced with this scenario, before the harvest takes place, we have decided to end Fundeinfra,” Caiado added.
According to Daniel Vilela, Fundeinfra fulfilled its role in society, bringing benefits to all corners of Goiás. “People trusted, believed in, and recognize that these resources were well used, which today provide better infrastructure conditions in all regions,” he assured. “This decision to revoke the charge comes in a context of recognition by the government of the difficulties faced by producers. We are experiencing a challenging harvest, a complex climate that brings some concern regarding production and productivity. It is our contribution to Goiás' agribusiness,” added the vice-governor.
Fundeinfra
The State Infrastructure Fund was created in 2022 by the Government of Goiás with the objective of raising financial resources from the state's agricultural, livestock, and mineral production and allocating them to the implementation of infrastructure works, especially the paving and maintenance of Goiás' highways. Through the fund, rural producers could opt for a voluntary contribution of up to 1.65% on the commercialization value of their products, in exchange for various tax benefits, such as the use of special regimes that favor the producers' cash flow, either through tax substitution or in the control of the exit of goods for export.
Essential for improving the state's road network, Fundeinfra resources enable the construction and maintenance of highways. Currently, the Government of Goiás is carrying out 24 projects, covering more than 590 kilometers of the state's road network, a portfolio that will be expanded with another 18 interventions in the bidding process and with contracts in the resumption phase. With an investment of R$ 837.6 million, seven projects have already been completed, totaling 340 kilometers of new asphalt throughout the state.
Of this total, 164 kilometers were paved on highways GO-154, GO-219, GO-230, and GO-050. Highways GO-080, GO-040, and GO-184 were also restored, totaling 175 kilometers of completely renewed pavement.
Currently, ongoing works represent an investment of approximately R$1.7 billion. The interventions are divided into duplication services (42 km), paving (492 km), restoration (56 km), and Special Engineering Works (0.36 km), a category that includes structures such as bridges. In addition, another 40 interventions are in the planning, project development, or contracting phase, with an estimated investment exceeding R$5.1 billion for the execution of more than 1,500 kilometers of improvements to the state road network.
