The government releases the 2024/2025 Crop Guarantee program for 685,000 family farmers.

The federal government will begin payments for the Garantia-Safra program for the 2024/2025 cycle starting in March, benefiting more than 685,000 family farmers in 934 municipalities in Amazonas, the Northeast, and Northern Minas Gerais. The benefit, set at R$1,200, will be deposited in a single installment, according to the Bolsa Família payment schedule.

The authorization for the transfers was formalized by gatehouse published on Wednesday (18), which regulates the release of resources in this first stage of the program.

The Garantia-Safra program is aimed at family farmers with an income of up to 1.5 minimum wages, who cultivate beans, corn, or cassava in areas between 0.6 and 5 hectares and have an active Family Farming Registry (CAF). Payment is conditional upon proof of production losses of at least 40% to 50%, caused by drought or excessive rainfall.

Access to the benefit can be obtained through the Caixa Tem app, at lottery outlets, or at Caixa bank branches. Producers with pending registration issues have 30 days to resolve them and receive the funds. The status can be checked on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA).

Linked to the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (Pronaf), the Garantia-Safra program aims to guarantee a minimum income for producers in regions subject to recurring losses due to climatic events.
