A delegation of 18 representatives from the agricultural sector in Mato Grosso visited Santa Catarina this Tuesday (31) for a technical immersion in the state's pig farming, a national reference in production volume and exports. The agenda began at the headquarters of the Santa Catarina Association of Pig Breeders (ACCS) and includes visits to industries, cooperatives and research centers.

The delegation is led by the president of the Mato Grosso Swine Breeders Association (Acrismat), Frederico Wagner França Tannure Filho, and includes producers, representatives from the State Secretariat for Development, the Mato Grosso Agriculture and Livestock Federation (Famato), Investe MT, and the Agro Forum. The objective is to understand, in practice, how the Santa Catarina production chain is structured and what institutional and technical mechanisms support the state's performance.
The president of ACCS, Losivanio Luiz de Lorenzi, received the group and highlighted the role of coordination between state entities in strengthening pig farming in the country. According to him, the exchange of technical and management information between associations is part of the sector's evolution process.

Beef cattle farming has grown, but pig farming has not followed the same expansion trajectory in recent decades. The entity's assessment is that there is productive space, grain supply, and a favorable environment to expand the activity, provided there is sectoral organization, integration with industry, and a consolidated technical base.
The mission, planned since last year, seeks to identify models of coordination between producers, agribusinesses, cooperatives, and applied research, as well as to open channels for future commercial and institutional partnerships. The program includes a visit to Embrapa Swine and Poultry, in Concórdia, where the group will have contact with research focused on health, nutrition, and environment in swine production.
Acrismat's expectation is to use the references observed in Santa Catarina to structure a plan to strengthen pig farming in Mato Grosso, integrating production, technical assistance, and the market.
