Poultry farming in Mato Grosso do Sul began 2026 maintaining its expansion trajectory, with growth in chicken slaughter and improved export performance, even in the face of a slight reduction in the volume shipped.
Data from the Casa Rural Avicultura bulletin, published by Famasul, shows that the state slaughtered 30.6 million chickens in the first two months of the year, an increase of 6.97% compared to the same period in 2025. The result reinforces the continued growth of the activity within the animal protein chain in the state's agribusiness.
In foreign trade, approximately 28,000 tons of chicken meat were exported during the period, generating revenue of US$62.8 million. Despite a slight decrease in the volume shipped abroad, revenue grew by 9.1%, supported by the appreciation of the product in the international market.
Export performance is linked to strong demand from strategic markets for Brazil, particularly China and Japan, which remain among the main destinations for chicken meat from Mato Grosso do Sul.

According to Famasul, agribusiness accounted for 94.51% of the state's total exports during the analyzed period, highlighting the weight of production chains, especially animal proteins, in Mato Grosso do Sul's trade balance.
The start of the year confirms the importance of poultry farming within the state's economy, with results sustained by external demand and the maintenance of the sector's competitiveness in the international market.
