Sugarcane: Goiás projects 79.6 million tons.

Goiás is expected to produce 79.6 million tons of sugarcane in the 2026/27 harvest, according to data released by the Faeg System based on projections from the National Supply Company (Conab). Despite a 0.6% decrease compared to the previous cycle, the estimate maintains the state among the main producers in the country and highlights the competitiveness of Goiás' sugarcane production chain.

The cultivated area is expected to be approximately 1.02 million hectares, a decrease of 0.91 TP4T compared to the 2025/26 harvest. The average productivity is estimated at 77.98 tons per hectare. The slight reduction in production, therefore, is mainly related to the smaller cultivated area, with no indication of a significant loss in sugarcane yield.

According to data released by the Faeg System based on Conab's historical series, the state's sugarcane production grew by 17.8% in the last ten years, while Brazilian production advanced by approximately 7.3%. During the same period, Goiás expanded its harvested area by approximately 6.1%. In Brazil, there was a contraction of nearly 1%.

Performance data shows that the growth of the sugarcane sector in Goiás does not depend solely on the expansion of the area. Productivity gains, renewal of sugarcane fields, genetic improvements, new management technologies, and greater operational and industrial efficiency have also contributed to strengthening the supply chain.

Another indicator that reinforces the state's relevance is the Total Recoverable Sugar (TRS). According to data released by the Faeg System based on Conab's projection, Goiás should reach approximately 10.7 million tons of TRS in the 2026/27 harvest.

The volume places the state in third position nationally, behind São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The amount of sugarcane processed and the concentration of ATR (Total Recoverable Sugar) directly influence the potential for generating sugar-energy products and the economic efficiency of industrial units. In sugar production, Goiás should reach approximately 3 million tons and also remain in third place in the national ranking.

In the biofuel market, Goiás is gaining even more prominence. Ethanol production from sugarcane is estimated at 4.6 billion liters. According to data released by the Faeg System based on Conab's projection, this volume corresponds to approximately 15.41% of Brazilian production and places Goiás in second position among national producers.

In addition to sugarcaneGoiás expands its participation in ethanol production. cornFor anhydrous ethanol, the projection indicates production of approximately 420.1 million liters in the 2026/27 harvest. This volume represents a reduction of only 0.2% compared to the 421.1 million liters estimated for the previous cycle, indicating stability.

Meanwhile, hydrated corn ethanol is showing significant expansion. Production is expected to jump from approximately 361.4 million liters in 2025/26 to 758.6 million liters in 2026/27, an estimated increase of 109.91 TP4T. As a result, total corn ethanol production should increase from 782.5 million to 1.17 billion liters, a growth of approximately 50.61 TP4T.

The increase is driven mainly by hydrated ethanol, which more than doubled during the period and compensates for the stability observed in anhydrous ethanol production. The data released by the Faeg System, based on Conab projections, thus reinforce Goiás' strategic role in the production of sugarcane, sugar, and biofuels, with growth sustained by productivity, technology, and efficiency in the sugar-energy chain.
