Planting rice It advances in Rio Grande do Sul, especially in the Western Border, while cereal prices register appreciation in the State. According to data released by Emater/RS-Ascar in the Conjunctural Report this Thursday (17), the average value of the 50 kilo sack rose 2,18% in the last week, going from R$ 77,08 to R$ 78,76.
In the Emater/RS-Ascar administrative region of Bagé, there are plans to cultivate 361,027 hectares of rice. Sowing has progressed excellently and remains concentrated in the municipalities of the Western Border region, where planting traditionally begins in early September.
In Maçambará, 151 of the planned 16,900 hectares have already been sown. The high capacity of machinery and implements used by producers allows for significant daily progress in operations.
However, the low temperatures may cause some delay in crop establishment. Even so, the sequence of dry days has favored the progress of work in the fields.
The scenario is also influenced by market conditions. Full dams and the positive reaction of rice prices increase the confidence of producers, who had been showing pessimism due to the expectation of an El Niño spring, the lack of credit, and the high prices of inputs.
In the Campanha region, producers are preparing the fields and desiccating them for the start of sowing, without major restrictions. The expectation is that the first crops will be planted in the second half of September.
In the Santa Rosa region, the areas are also prepared. Many have already been leveled and are awaiting the period considered most suitable for the start of cultivation.
In Santo Antônio das Missões, the estimated area for rice cultivation is approximately 400 hectares. In Garruchos, however, the expected area dedicated to rice cultivation has been significantly reduced.
In addition to the progress in planting, the market is showing price increases. According to data released by Emater/RS-Ascar, the average state price per 50-kilogram sack increased by 2.18%, rising from R$ 77.08 to R$ 78.76.
In the Bagé region, the average price is R$ 77.70 per sack. In Pelotas, the price reaches R$ 77.76, while in Santa Rosa it is R$ 76.00 per sack, with a yield of 58%. In the Soledade region, the average value recorded by Emater/RS-Ascar is R$ 75.50 per sack.
The scenario combines the progress of planting, water availability in dams, and recovery in prices. At the same time, low temperatures may require attention to the initial establishment of crops in already planted areas. As the planting period continues, producers are monitoring weather and soil conditions to determine the pace of operations in the different producing regions of the state.
