Otaviano Pivetta was elected governor of Mato Grosso this Sunday (4), in the first round of the 2026 elections. The Republican candidate obtained 61.7% of the valid votes, equivalent to 985,996 votes, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

By 7:13 PM, 87.2% of the ballot boxes had been counted in the state.
Pivetta came out ahead of Wellington Fagundes (PL), who received 22.97% of the votes. Following them are Doutora Natasha (PSD), with 15.08%; Rafaell Milas (Missão), with 0.56%; Sargento Laudicério (Agir), with 0.18%; and Maurício Coelho (Mobiliza), with 0.15%.
The gubernatorial election is decided in the first round when a candidate obtains more than half of the valid votes. With this result, there will be no second round for the government of [STATE].
The current governor of Mato Grosso, Otaviano Pivetta, assumed office in March 2026, following the resignation of Mauro Mendes. He served three terms as mayor of Lucas do Rio Verde and two terms as vice-governor. In 2026, he is running for re-election to remain in office.
