81 countries import beef from Mato Grosso; China leads buyers

From January to July of this year, 81 countries imported beef from Mato Grosso, totaling 458,300 tons shipped. China remains the main destination, accounting for 51,514,000 metric tons of the total—equivalent to 236,300 tons.

From sales of this protein alone, the state has already accumulated revenue of US$1,500,000 in the first seven months of the year, with an average value of US$1,500,000 per ton. Mato Grosso's beef was shipped primarily through the ports of Paranaguá (PR) and Santos (SP), considered the main export corridors to the Asian and European markets.

"The figures from January to July show that Mato Grosso is recognized not only for the quality of its beef, but also for the sustainable way we produce it. This balance is what ensures competitiveness and strengthens the confidence of international markets," says Bruno de Jesus Andrade, Project Director at the Mato Grosso Meat Institute (IMAC).

The second-largest buyer from January to July was the United States, with 28,200 tons (6.1% of the total), although this scenario could change in the second half of the year following the US government's measures. Russia is right behind, with 27,400 tons (5.99%).

Even in smaller volumes, the list of destinations for Mato Grosso beef includes strategic countries in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, such as Chile, the Philippines, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Spain, Hong Kong, Libya, the United Kingdom, Lebanon, and Aruba.

This performance reinforces Mato Grosso's importance in the international protein trade. The state accounts for approximately 17% of Brazil's cattle herd, with over 34 million head of cattle, and accounts for a significant share of national exports.

"The international market is increasingly confident in Mato Grosso beef. This recognition is the result of years of investment in technology and good environmental practices, which are now important competitive advantages. Mato Grosso continues to expand its markets and consolidate its image as a reliable supplier of quality, sustainable beef," adds Andrade.
