Wheat prices continue to fall in Brazil, according to Cepea research. In Paraná, specifically, the average price of wheat in September is the lowest since April 2024, in real terms.
In Rio Grande do Sul, current prices are the lowest since January of this year. According to Cepea researchers, the pressure stems from the intensification of the national harvest, the devaluation of the dollar against the real in September, and the drop in external prices.
Furthermore, the temporary suspension of retenciones (export taxes) in Argentina led buyers to further reduce their offers, forcing sellers to accept lower amounts.
According to data from Cepea, in September (up to the 26th), the average wheat price in Rio Grande do Sul is R$ 1,262.67/ton, down 2.2% compared to August/25 and 9.2% compared to September/24, in real terms (values deflated by the IGP-DI), and is also the lowest since January/25. In Paraná, the average is R$ 1,354.35/t, a monthly drop of 5.5% and an annual drop of 10.3%, registering the lowest level, in real terms, since April/24.
