Poultry farming in Mato Grosso do Sul started 2026 with positive performance, registering growth in chicken slaughter and an increase in export revenue. According to data from the Casa Rural Avicultura bulletin, published by Famasul, the state maintains a pace of expansion in the sector, driven by the appreciation of chicken meat in the international market.
In the first two months of 2026, chicken slaughter in Mato Grosso do Sul totaled 30.6 million head, representing an increase of 6.97% compared to the same period in 2025.
In the foreign market, the state exported approximately 28,000 tons of chicken meat, generating revenue of US$62.8 million. Despite a slight decrease in the volume shipped, revenue showed growth of 9.11%, reflecting the appreciation of the product.
According to the Famasul bulletin, export performance is linked to demand from important international markets, especially countries like China and Japan, which remain among the main destinations for Brazilian protein.
The data also indicate the relevance of agribusiness to the economy of Mato Grosso do Sul. During the period analyzed, the sector accounted for 94.51% of the state's total exports, reinforcing the leading role of production chains, especially that of animal proteins.

The scenario observed at the beginning of 2026 reinforces the importance of poultry farming within the agribusiness of Mato Grosso do Sul, with results sustained by increased value in the foreign market and the maintenance of international demand.
