The survey conducted by the SIGA-MS Project, executed by Aprosoja/MS, indicates that as of February 20th, the soybean harvest for the 2025/2026 crop reached 27.71 TP4T of the monitored area in Mato Grosso do Sul, equivalent to approximately 1.3 million hectares already harvested. Simultaneously, the planting of the second corn crop reached 30.51 TP4T of the estimated area, totaling approximately 673,000 hectares.
According to Flavio Aguena, technical advisor at Aprosoja/MS, the progress of operations is within the expected dynamics for the period, despite the climatic impacts recorded in some regions. “The soybean harvest and the planting of the second corn crop continue to advance in Mato Grosso do Sul, in line with the progress of field operations. The pace is directly related to climatic conditions and crop maturation, which vary between the regions monitored by the SIGA-MS Project.”
Southern region shows the greatest progress in soybean harvest.
Among the monitored regions, the Southern Region leads in harvest progress, with an average of 33.51 TP4T of the area already harvested. Following this are the Central Region, with 21.01 TP4T, and the Northern Region, with 15.01 TP4T.
"The weather conditions directly influenced the development of the crops and the progress of the harvest. Even with periods of drought in some areas, operations continue as conditions allow," he explains.
Planting of the second corn crop reaches 30.5% in the State.
The planting of the second corn crop is also progressing in Mato Grosso do Sul, reaching a state average of 30.5% of the planned area. The Northern Region has the highest percentage of sowing, with 32.6%, followed by the Southern Region, with 30.7%, and the Central Region, with 28.6%.
"Corn planting occurs as the harvested soybean areas become available, respecting the recommended window to reduce climate risks and ensure better yield potential."
It is estimated that the second corn crop will occupy approximately 2.206 million hectares in the state, with an expected average yield of 84.2 sacks per hectare and a total projected production of 11.139 million tons.
The SIGA-MS Project continuously monitors crops in Mato Grosso do Sul, collecting information from producers, consultants, and rural unions, evaluating crop development and the progress of agricultural operations in all producing regions.
