Goiás ends 2025 with consistent growth in the Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP), reaching R$ 120.9 billion, compared to R$ 106.5 billion registered in 2024. The increase of 13.6% expands the state's share of the national VBP from 8.40% to 8.56%, consolidating Goiás among the main agricultural centers in the country. In the long-term accumulated period, Goiás' VBP evolves from R$ 74.4 billion in 2018 to the current level, a trajectory that shows continuous expansion in current values. As with other states, the figures do not consider inflation during the period, which indicates that part of the growth reflects price variations over the years.
Soybeans remain the main agricultural activity in Goiás and are the primary driver of growth in 2025. The VBP (Value of Production) of the oilseed will increase from R$$ 34.2 billion in 2024 to R$$ 38.7 billion, reinforcing its leading position in the state's production composition. The performance of soybeans has a direct impact on the aggregate result, given its relative weight within the productive structure of Goiás.
Beef cattle farming also shows significant expansion, increasing from R$ 17.3 billion to R$ 20.4 billion. This growth consolidates cattle farming as the second main activity in the state and increases livestock's contribution to the total VBP (Value of Agricultural Production). Corn, the third largest product, advances from R$ 11.6 billion to R$ 15.5 billion, registering one of the largest absolute variations among crops and strengthening the grain production base.
Sugarcane maintains a moderate growth trajectory, rising from R$ 13.5 billion in 2024 to R$ 14.4 billion in 2025, preserving its prominent position among the state's main agricultural chains. Poultry farming shows increased revenue, with chicken sales rising from R$ 8.8 billion to R$ 9.1 billion. Milk also grows, from R$ 5.6 billion to R$ 6.1 billion, expanding its relative share among proteins.
Among the declines, those in sectors with less economic weight stand out. Beans fell from R$ 1.49 billion to R$ 1.32 billion, while cotton dropped from R$ 554 million to R$ 496 million. These reductions, however, do not significantly alter the aggregate performance of the state's VBP (Value of Agricultural Production), given the strong expansion of the main sectors.
Composition
In the composition of Goiás's Gross Production Value (VBP), agriculture accounts for 67% of the total value, while livestock represents 33%, a structure that is practically stable compared to the previous year. The combination of grains and proteins sustains the state's growth in 2025 and reinforces Goiás's role as one of the pillars of Brazilian agribusiness in terms of gross revenue.
