Goiás started 2026 with a positive performance in its trade balance. In January, the balance was US$305 million, resulting from US$721 million in exports and US$416 million in imports. This performance keeps the state among the main players in Brazilian foreign trade, occupying the 9th position in the national ranking of exports for the month and the 11th position in imports. The data comes from the Superintendency of Foreign Trade and Attraction of International Investments, linked to the Secretariat of Industry, Commerce and Services (SIC).
Compared to January 2025, exports from Goiás grew by 5.51%. As a result, the surplus showed a significant increase of 33.43% compared to the same period of the previous year, when the balance was US$228.3 million. The trade flow (sum of exports and imports) totaled US$1.13 billion in January 2026. “The January result confirms that Goiás begins 2026 with a solid foundation in foreign trade. We had growth in exports and a significant increase of more than 331% in the trade balance surplus compared to last year. This performance reflects the strength of our agribusiness, the advancement of industry and mining, as well as the maturing of the policy for attracting investments and supporting the productive sector. Goiás is expanding its participation in Brazilian exports and is increasingly consolidating itself as one of the most competitive states in the country on the international stage,” highlighted the head of the SIC, Joel de Sant'Anna Braga Filho.
Among the most exported products in January, the highlight was the meat segment, responsible for 31.65% of the state's exports in the month, with a growth of 33.73% compared to January 2025. Beef led the group, with an increase of 44.43%. Also showing significant performance were the soybean complex (16.77%), the corn complex (15.96%), copper ores (9.31%), with significant growth of 193.78% in the annual comparison, ferroalloys (8.70%) and gold (5.38%).
The main destinations for exports from Goiás were China, which absorbed 20.62% of the total exported, followed by the United States (9.58%), Bulgaria (9.31%), Iran (6.78%), Vietnam (5.78%) and Canada (5.52%). In the ranking of exporting municipalities, Rio Verde led, with US$107 million, equivalent to 14.95% of the state total, followed by Alto Horizonte (9.31%), Mozarlândia (9.16%) and Jataí (6.91%). As for imports, the main municipality was Anápolis, responsible for 44.65% of the total imported.
