Goiás' foreign trade registered a strong performance in March 2026, with a 62.31% growth in exports compared to the previous month, reaching US$1.164 billion. During the same period, imports totaled US$405 million, guaranteeing a trade surplus of US$758 million. For the year as a whole, the state also maintains a positive result, with US$2.641 billion in exports and a trade balance of US$1.327 billion.

The Secretary-General of the Government, Gean Carlo Carvalho, emphasizes that the result reflects the advancement of the Goiás economy on the international stage. "Goiás continues to expand its presence in foreign trade consistently, demonstrating the strength of its diversified productive base, which is increasingly integrated into global supply chains," he assesses, reinforcing the competitiveness of the Goiás economy in the international arena.
The Secretary of Industry, Commerce and Services, Joel de Sant'Anna Braga Filho, emphasizes the role of public policies and the productive sector. “The March figures show a robust performance, reaching over US$1 billion in exports, even in the face of market fluctuations. This result is supported by the policies adopted by Governor Daniel Vilela, combined with the work of entrepreneurs who contribute significantly to the sector,” he highlights.
Strong agriculture

Agribusiness continues to be the leading sector, responsible for 82.71% of exports, equivalent to US$962.7 million in the month. The main highlights of the export agenda were the soybean complex, responsible for 61% of exports, followed by the meat sector, with 19.1%, and minerals, with 11.8% of exports. Together, these three segments accounted for 91%.8% of external sales, highlighting the strength of the state's production chains. Among the products with the greatest dynamism, ethyl alcohol stands out, registering significant growth of 711.4% compared to the same period of the previous year.
More markets
China remained the main destination for exports from Goiás, accounting for 51.31 TP4T of the total, followed by the United States (6.81 TP4T) and Canada (41 TP4T). Furthermore, there was an expansion and diversification of markets, with significant growth in sales to countries such as Canada, Pakistan, and Vietnam, which showed substantial advances during the analyzed period. The leading role in exports is concentrated in municipalities in the interior of the state. Rio Verde leads with 36.11 TP4T of the total exported, followed by Jataí (12.11 TP4T) and Itumbiara (6.31 TP4T).

Imports totaled US$405 million in March, with a focus on products with higher technological intensity. The main items were pharmaceuticals, which represented 35.51% of the total, followed by vehicles and their parts (16.91%) and industrial machinery and equipment (12.71%). Anápolis led state imports, concentrating 52% of the total, consolidating itself as an important industrial and logistics hub in the state.
According to Erik Figueiredo, executive director of the Mauro Borges Institute, the data reveals a positive scenario. "The indicators confirm Goiás' competitiveness, with a strong presence of agribusiness and increasing integration into global supply chains, maintaining positive results in the trade balance," he points out.
